Brother Addict is an adult male, father of three, grandfather, and a army veteran. Brother Addict is also, a recovering person with over 24 years of continuous sobriety. Towards the 1st  3rd of his ongoing sobriety,(7 1/2years), his desire to help others, started him on a, to say the least, very interesting journey. First, he went to work in a government funded  treatment center. This facility treated detox, inpatient (30 days) and outpatients. Brother Addict worked there with the detox and the inpatient clients for approximately 2 1/2 years. Then, Brother Addict went to work for another government funded treatment center, working in a long term environment (6 months inpatient treatment) where he remained for about one year. Brother Addict then thought that by becoming a volunteer alcohol and drug counselor,he would have greater freedom to expose other addicted people to the tools that not only helped him get sober, but helped keep him sober for many years. He then started volunteering at a community center that offered a variety of services to the financially challenged, as well as the mentally challenged, and to the street people. Brother Addict volunteered there for six years. It should also be noted, that although Brother Addict has accumulated over 450 hours of specialized workshops and many, many, hours of in -house specialized training, also the fact that he spent a considerable amount of time in a registered preceptorship, Brother Addict is not a certified counselor. If there were no internet, Brother Addict, as he has done for the last  24 years ,would be out there, somewhere, trying to help the suffering addict and their families. Is there some way I can try to help you?
